Although it’s not as detailed, Train Simulator 2019: India does provide a good view of the various trains used in the subcontinent. The gameplay, however, can come across as simple and repetitive. Other similar games include Train Simulator or Classic Train Simulator.

Carry passengers all across India

Like most vehicle sims, Train Simulator 2019: India is fully rendered in 3D. From the trains to the backdrop, it gives players a claiming feel. Although mostly in low-poly visual quality, the game really tells you that it’s in India. From the buildings in the background to the details on the trains, it creates that authentic feel, which adds to its enjoyability.

With every mission you complete, you earn coins that can be used to unlock larger, faster train models. Of course, the game also lets you purchase all trains at once through an in-app microtransaction. In terms of gameplay, it offers the first mission as a tutorial, which showcases its intuitive controls. You can switch between Forward and Backward. The game also uses sliders for your acceleration and turning speeds. 

However, the game comes up short in terms of variety. From the first to the last mission, you expect the same sequence: backup to connect the engine to the trains, drive the train set, and switch tracks as needed to avoid collisions. It also lacks a certain finesse; you can just ram the engine back into the carts and it won’t derail your stage attempt.

Casual train sim

Given the hardware restrictions for mobile devices, it’s easy to excuse Train Simulator 2019: India. After all, it does a good job of featuring the Indian subcontinent at every point possible. You unlock different trains, transport people across stations, and make sure you avoid forks in the road. The scenery and simple controls even make you forget that the missions are basically the same all throughout.
